Welcome new geography faculty Dr. Genevieve Reid,as she shares her life journey exploring positionality, storytelling, intergenerational knowledge transfer, empowerment, and mapping with Geographic Information systems (GIS). She focuses on Indigenous data sovereignty, pedagogies, epistemologies, and ontologies while collaborating with youth, elders, NGOs, of the Cree in Northern Quebec.

There will be a special water cereremony for the orca Sk’aliCh’elh-tenaut, on the 50th anniversary of her captivity at Miami Seaquarium. Representatives of the Lummi Nation are traveling to Miami and holding ceremony as part of our Xa xalh Xechnging (sacred obligation) to care for their relation and stand in solidarity with other Indigenous peoples to bring her home.
