Maya people of Yucatan have a common sense understanding of corporal space. This is known as their iknal (roughly, ‘place’). This concept is a philosophical principle regarding the constant presence of and unending absence. It is always in perpetual motion as the awareness and perception of our shared and individuated body's space coupled to our perceptions, opinions, and attitudes.

El Dia De Los Muertos is a Central and South American cultural festival that is celebrated November 1 and 2. It is often associated or mistaken for Halloween in popular culture. However, it is its own festival honored by Indigenous people. Maria Louisa Veisaga will help us celebrate in the ways of the Quechua of Bolivia. A PowerPoint prepared by Vanessa Leon will show Indigenous peoples of her country Ecuador.

Dr. Webb, inspired by an episode of Relic Hunter, will talk about ancient astronomy and some of the tools ancient astronomers used thousands of years ago. These include ancient observatories like Stonehenge and Woodhenge, alignments of pyramids and Mayan temples, and the Antikytheria device. We will also talk about cosmological theories from ancient times to modern cosmology.
